Department Head Biophysics

Job Summary:
The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is seeking a highly skilled Department Administrator to join our team at the Sargeant Health Center. As a key member of our Biophysics department, you will be responsible for directing the administrative and financial activities of the department, ensuring the smooth operation of all administrative functions, and providing exceptional support to our faculty and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage the department's annual budget, monitoring expenditures and analyzing data against benchmarks.
- Direct the administrative and financial activities of the department, including human and physical resources.
- Function as the department's agent and representative with internal and external entities, negotiating contracts as required.
- Develop and monitor administrative infrastructure to support department operations, including staffing levels, compensation plans, and organizational development.
- Integrate and coordinate department activities with MCW administration, internal and external entities, and monitor department compliance with operational policies and procedures.
- Work with department faculty on grant writing, adherence to budget guidelines, and opportunities for extramural funding.
- Serve as advisor to the chair on non-research issues, including strategic planning, faculty hiring, and disciplinary practices.
