Job Summary:

College Achieve Charter Schools is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Social Worker to join our dedicated Child Study Team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and providing counseling and support services to promote student success.

Responsibilities:

  • Special Education Case Management:
    • Conduct social assessments and evaluations for students referred for special education services.
    • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
    • Coordinate and facilitate IEP meetings, ensuring parental participation and compliance with state and federal regulations.
    • Monitor the implementation and progress of IEPs, making necessary adjustments as needed.
    • Provide counseling and support services to students with disabilities and their families.
    • Collaborate with teachers, psychologists, and other professionals to ensure the provision of appropriate services and accommodations.
  • New Jersey Education Code:
    • Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws, regulations, and policies related to special education and student support services.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including IEPs, evaluations, and progress reports, in accordance with state and federal regulations.
    • Participate in due process proceedings, such as mediation and hearings, as required.
    • Provide training and support to staff on special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Counseling and Support Services:
    • Provide individual and group counseling services to students, focusing on socio-emotional development, behavior management, and crisis intervention.
    • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to address students' needs and develop appropriate interventions.
    • Conduct home visits and facilitate parent/family conferences as needed.
    • Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and community resources.
  • Professional Development and Collaboration:
    • Attend and participate in professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices, laws, and regulations related to special education and student support services.
    • Collaborate with other Child Study Team members, including psychologists, learning consultants, and speech-language specialists, to ensure a comprehensive approach to student support.
    • Participate in schoolwide and district-level meetings, committees, and initiatives related to student support services.
  • Other Duties:
    • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards and professional codes of conduct.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Support Services or school administration.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Social Work or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Valid New Jersey Student Personnel Services Certification with a Social Worker endorsement.
  • Experience working in a school setting and knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of students, families, and professionals.
  • Proficiency in using technology and student information systems.
