Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technician

Rapid City Medical Center, LLP is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform a full range of sample testing and laboratory services, including microbiology, urinalysis, serology, hematology, immunohematology, hemostasis, and chemistry.
  • Ensure sample integrity and evaluate, judge, and interpret test results with accuracy.
  • Accept and process samples for on-site testing or forward to contracted reference laboratories.
  • Identify and resolve inconsistencies in patient results.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, ensuring quality control and functionality.
  • Complete quality assurance monitors in hematology, chemistry, and hemostasis.
  • Prepare the laboratory for inspection from regulatory institutions.
  • Provide customer service for questions directed at the laboratory and answer questions from patient providers regarding test processes, patient results, or sample collection techniques.
  • Train new employees and phlebotomy students.
  • Participate in continuing education programs.
  • Perform phlebotomy on patients when needed.
  • Monitor, maintain, order, and stock laboratory supplies.
Requirements:
  • An Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, or a related field, and one year of clinical laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess certification as a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or possess certification by an HHS-approved lab training program.
Work Environment:

The Medical Laboratory Technician will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, moving among various outpatient and inpatient settings. The position requires exposure to communicable diseases, sharp instruments, bodily fluids, and cleaning chemicals.

The ideal candidate will be able to walk to various settings, bend, reach, stand, or walk for varied periods of time, and lift up to 30 pounds of supplies and equipment. Occasional stress in dealing with priorities is expected.

This is a full-time position that requires occasional early evenings, weekends, and holidays, with eligibility for differential pay.
