Business Support Services of Salem is currently seeking a skilled Court Reporter to provide verbatim reporting services for Social Security hearings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate recording equipment to ensure high-quality audio and video recordings of hearings.
  • Create a complete and accurate transcript of proceedings, including all testimony and exhibits.
  • Gather and distribute relevant documents and materials during hearings.
  • Provide administrative support as needed to ensure the smooth operation of hearings.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must have a High School Diploma or equivalent, and possess strong English language skills, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Additionally, they should be proficient in operating various office equipment, such as copiers and fax machines.

The ideal candidate will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including the general public. They should be able to maintain confidentiality, professional appearance, and demeanor at all times.

A minimum typing speed of 60 words per minute is required, along with reliable transportation and a printer/scanner at home. Previous experience as a Court Reporter is not necessary, as training is available. However, knowledge of legal or medical terminology is highly desirable.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $45,000 - $65,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, plus benefits, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off. This is a full-time position, with opportunities for career advancement and professional growth.
