Medical Director of Population Health and Utilization

As a Regional Medical Director at Blue Shield of California, you will play a vital role in overseeing population health and utilization outcomes for assigned medical groups and IPAs. Your expertise will drive data-driven decisions, leading to improved healthcare outcomes and quality compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead clinical initiatives and develop strategic plans to enhance population health and reduce costs.
- Manage a team of RN Clinical Program Managers, providing guidance and support to ensure successful implementation of clinical programs.
- Analyze complex data sets to identify trends and areas for improvement, informing business decisions and driving results.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance system-wide clinical initiatives and promote high-quality care.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of 2 years of previous medical leadership experience, with a proven track record of success in population health management.
- At least 5 years of direct patient care experience, demonstrating your ability to balance clinical expertise with business acumen.
- A medical degree (M.D./D.O.) and an active, unrestricted California State Medical License are essential.
- Completed residency preferably in adult-based primary care specialty (e.g., internal medicine or family practice).

Compensation
