Job Summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a skilled EMT Paramedic to join our team. As an EMT Paramedic, you will provide emergency medical care to individuals in response to calls for treatment, examining, assessing, and stabilizing patients at emergency scenes.

Responsibilities
  • Administer skilled medical care to individuals in response to emergency calls, following Massachusetts EMS Pre-Hospital Treatment protocols.
  • Obtain medical history, check vital signs, and advise on-call physicians of diagnostic indications.
  • Perform definitive life support, administer treatment, and utilize advanced life support equipment and procedures as directed by authorized physicians.
  • Respond to a wide range of emergency situations, providing control at the scene and conducting triage, treatment, and transportation as needed.
  • Document pre-hospital care received by patients to facilitate admission to healthcare facilities and for database purposes.
  • Prepare patients for transport, consult with radio dispatchers, and monitor patients in ambulances to maintain stability.
  • Drive ambulances to and from emergency scenes, inspect, clear, stock, and maintain emergency vehicles and equipment.
  • Maintain control of narcotics and ensure emergency vehicles are properly stocked with necessary supplies, equipment, and medications.
Requirements
  • Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
  • Certification in CPR - Basic Rescue by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support by the American Heart Association.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum three years of experience in an urban EMS service integrated with a municipal first response system.
