Job Description

Central Kentucky Community Action Council, Inc. is seeking a highly qualified Director of Early Childhood Education to lead our Head Start/Early Head Start program. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in supervision, fiscal management, and administration, as well as a strong knowledge of best practices in early childhood education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the highest quality of services to children and families in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Lead and evaluate the performance of management staff and administrative assistants.
  • Coordinate among components, across levels, and with the organization.
  • Facilitate resolution of conflicts and promote a consistent exchange of information.
  • Encourage and support professional development opportunities and plan regular leadership meetings.
  • Participate in the design of internal structures, systems, and policies.
  • Ensure consistency in service delivery across the program and participate in the development of program interagency agreements and contracts.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with public school districts, systems of higher education, and other community agencies and partners.
  • Attend meetings as appropriate and design and deliver formal presentations to parents, staff, Board of Directors, Policy Council, and community groups.
  • Oversee the Head Start programmatic budget and ensure compliance with Agency fiscal policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for monitoring collection of Non-federal Share Match requirements per federal funding guidelines.
  • Coordinate and submit all grant funding applications and supplemental funding applications for Central Kentucky Head Start.
  • Participate in the development of collaborations and facility development for future expansion of families and/or services.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, Business Administration, or related field (required).
  • Master's degree (preferred).
  • Significant experience with supervision of staff, fiscal management, and administration.
  • Strong knowledge of best practices and systems in the field of early childhood education.
  • Valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and significant problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to direct and assess the performance of staff and handle highly sensitive/stressful situations in a professional manner.
  • Ability to interpret and implement complex policies and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion in all employee interactions.
