Job Summary:

The University of Miami is seeking a highly skilled Donor Referral Responder to join our team. As a Donor Referral Responder, you will be responsible for responding to potential donor referrals in all donor service area hospitals, in accordance with LAORA policies and procedures. This role requires excellent communication and logistical skills, as well as the ability to maintain the integrity of the donation process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Respond to potential donor referrals in all donor service area hospitals, in accordance with LAORA policies and procedures.
• Communicate with senior staff on all donor and referral activity to evaluate donation suitability based on information collected from patient's hospital chart and current health status.
• Perform independent assessment of potential cadaver donors to ensure donor meets medical criteria for donation.
• Perform assigned and routine rounds in hospitals to foster hospital collaboration.
• Ensure all legal and regulatory requirements, and medical standards of practice are met in the process of pursuing organs and tissues.
• Maintain daily log of activities on electronic spreadsheet for cost allocation and quality assurance purposes.
• Document clinical information, as required by regulatory agencies, in all aspects of interactions with hospital staff and during the donation process.
• Provide organ procurement in-service in donor hospitals to medical professionals.
• Participate in physician, hospital staff, and medical community education, as it relates to organ donor awareness and clinical support.
• Assist with data collection and operational initiatives and oversee process used for publication and clinical research.
• Transport organs, blood, specimens, and tissue samples from one place to another.
• Maintain confidentiality of all patient information according to federal and state guidelines and regulations.
• Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
• One year of critical care/intensive care work experience or one year of OPO experience.
• Any appropriate combination of relevant education, certification(s), or work experience may be considered.
• Credential as RN, CRT, Foreign MD, EMT or Paramedic preferred.
