Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Transportation Coordinator to join our team at Krapf Bus Companies. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of district-wide school bus schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of bus schedules for all students, utilizing computerized transportation routing and student database system.
  • Primary point of contact for scheduling of special needs students. Responsible for reviewing the need for all aides on buses.
  • Maintain communication and harmonious relationships with contractors, principals, and parents using diplomacy, tact, and discretion to ensure the daily transportation of students to and from school.
  • Assist with field inspections of bus routes, bus stops, and student loading zones to evaluate safety and efficiency.
  • Process and respond to mail and calls pertaining to transportation.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining monthly calendar of closings, early dismissals, and late openings for public, non-public, Charter, and specialized school programs.
  • Assist in maintaining the transportation software, overseeing student, school, and mapping information.
  • Assist with preparation of all transportation reports for submission to the state for subsidy purposes.
  • Required to drive school buses and or school vehicles in the event of an emergency or district need.
  • Maintain availability, responding to snow/emergency calls as needed.

Requirements:

  • At least one-year related experience in public school transportation.
  • Knowledge of / prior work experience with routing software preferred.
  • Deep geographical knowledge of districts and surrounding communities including routes, stops, schools, and roadways.
  • Computer literacy - knowledge of database software; Internet software; spreadsheet software, and word processing software.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to exhibit a positive attitude and be able to handle difficult situations professionally and in a non-confrontational manner being firm, fair, and consistent.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
  • A valid commercial driver's license with a passenger endorsement or willingness to obtain one as required by district/area.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and physical exam certifications as required.
