Inpatient Pharmacy Operations Director

In this critical leadership role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the inpatient pharmacy at MedStar Health. Reporting directly to the Chief Pharmacy Officer, you will be responsible for supervising a team of professional and technical employees, ensuring the accurate dispensing of medication orders, and evaluating staff performance.
About You
To succeed in this position, you must possess excellent communication and leadership skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. A minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a registered clinical pharmacist is required, with 3-4 years of experience preferred. A Doctoral degree from an accredited college of Pharmacy or completion of a residency is also required. In addition, you must be licensed as a PHARMD in the District of Columbia.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this position include:
- Supervising the day-to-day provision of pharmacy services to specified patient care areas.
- Optimizing drug inventory management, staffing, internal and intradepartmental communications, drug distribution, etc. to promote departmental efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Providing administrative supervision of technical and professional employees including evaluation, training and development.
- Evaluating and dispensing medication orders and assuring the prescriptions/orders are filled accurately and according to departmental policies and procedures.
