As a Surgical Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures. Your responsibilities will include selecting and placing surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgery, as well as scrubbing and providing instruments, sutures, and other sterile supplies as needed.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, BLS certification, and manual dexterity. Preferred qualifications include graduation from a certified school of surgical technology or 2 years of operating room experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare for surgical procedures by reviewing case carts and ensuring good working order of instruments.
  • Pull appropriate instruments and supplies and plan ahead for upcoming surgical case needs.
  • Anticipate the surgeon's needs and pass instruments, retract tissue, and operate equipment during surgery.
  • Demonstrate aseptic technique and universal precautions throughout the procedure.
  • Dispose of sharps and trash and place used supplies into case cart for processing.
  • Participate in counting of sharps, instruments, and sponges.
  • Prepare instruments for cleaning following each case.
  • Ensure accuracy of surgeon preference cards and pick lists.
  • Assist with OR turnover between cases.
  • Participate in stocking, replenishing supplies, and cleaning operating rooms.
