Job Description

At PDS Defense, we are seeking a skilled Assembler B to join our team in Sylmar, CA. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for performing complex assembly operations on structural parts, mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, equipment, and accessories using manual or automated assembly tools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform fabrication and production of Solar Cells, including Photolithography, Cap Etch/Window Clean, Thinning, Lift-Off, Evaporation, Sinter, Saw-Dice, Lot Code, electrical testing, microscope inspection, and Silicon Diodes.
  • Operate MOCVD vacuum system, Metal Organic material handling, and X-Ray Diffraction for semiconductor growth.
  • Perform technical manufacturing production assembly operations requiring accurate visual acuity and manual dexterity to fabricate production solar cell assemblies and solar panels for space applications.
  • Perform hand soldering, wire harness assembly, and component bonding.
  • Complete documentation accurately.
  • Operate tools and equipment such as wire strippers, crimpers, solder iron, wire identification, and associated tools.
  • Adhere to established company policies and procedures, paying special attention to safety regulations.
  • Demonstrate experience using a computer to look up and record information (Excel & Word).
  • Ability to work first or second shift.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Reliable, mechanically inclined, detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere and display a positive attitude.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 lbs.
  • Must wear a smock, hair cover, and gloves during work.
  • Requires accurate visual acuity.
  • Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint experience.
  • Inspection Under Microscope experience.
  • Assembly of small parts.
  • Weld/Soldering experience.
  • Sit or stand for more than 8 hours a day.
Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent or military/work experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience using SAP.
