About the Role

The Market Manager is responsible for driving aggregate sales and marketing efforts in a defined geographic area of a market. This individual has clearly defined sales and marketing objectives and accountabilities, including a detailed budget for the territory outlining monthly sales expectations by plant, product, and customer/customer segment.

The Market Manager works closely with fellow Sales Representatives, Customer Service & Logistics Manager, Plant Managers, Materials Performance (Quality), Customer Service Team (Inside Sales & Dispatch) and Credit & Collections personnel to achieve sales and marketing objectives.

This role will be responsible for managing a territory spanning Western Michigan to Northeast Ohio areas, with a focus on building strong relationships with key customers and differentiating Holcim from the competition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute sales and marketing strategies to achieve volume, share, and price objectives for the territory.
  • Identify and understand current and unmet needs for existing and potential customers and translate into sales opportunities.
  • Establish effective relationships with customers, based on quality products, services, and convenience.
  • Monitor competitor activity and communicate and recommend any necessary actions.
  • Proactively track and manage construction activity in the territory and understand existing product specifications.
  • Develop accurate forecasting and action plans to meet targets.
  • Document and communicate customer complaints and work with the Customer Service team to ensure they are addressed in a timely and effective manner.
  • Responsible for generating "right-first-time" invoices through effective utilization of the quotation/billing system and coordination with other sales and customer service personnel.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering.
  • 5-7 years' sales and territory management experience; knowledge of construction industry is an asset.
  • Sandler sales training and certification preferred.
  • Microsoft Office, SAP preferred.
  • Travel required regularly within the territory of Western Michigan to Northeast Ohio areas.
