Overview

Michaels Stores is a leading creative destination in North America, operating over 1,300 stores in 49 states and Canada. As an Event Coordinator, you will play a vital role in fueling the joy of creativity by planning and coordinating events that provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests.

About the Role

This is a full-time position based in S. CHARLESTON, WV. The ideal candidate will have excellent people skills, experience working with children and children's events, and good communication skills, including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication as well as listening skills.

The estimated salary for this position is around $45,000 to $55,000 per year, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate multiple events at once, including children's birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
• Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
• Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities.
• Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards.
• Communicate events with clients and store team members.
• Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed.
• Adjust plans and events based on client's feedback and needs.
• Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
• Uphold the company's cleanliness and safety standards. Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.

Additional Responsibilities

• Provide fast and friendly checkout experience for customers.
• Help customers shop, locate products, and provide them with solutions.
• Participate in daily store cleanliness activities including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and maintaining cleanliness of restrooms.
• Cross-trained in Custom Framing selling and production.

Requirements

• Excellent people skills and ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with others.
• Experience working with children and children's events.
• Good communication skills, including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication as well as listening skills.
• Ability to remain standing for long periods of time, move throughout the store, regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching.
• Retail and/or customer service experience required.
