Job Title: School Health Care Professional

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Nurse to join our team at Fairbanks North Star Borough School District. As a School Nurse, you will play a vital role in promoting the physical and mental health of our students, ensuring they receive optimal care and support throughout their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide exceptional nursing care to students, including administering medications, treating injuries, and managing chronic conditions.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs of each student.
• Conduct health screenings, track immunization records, and maintain accurate student health data.
• Offer guidance and support to students on healthy habits, nutrition, and wellness.
• Develop and implement health education programs for students, staff, and families.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest medical research, best practices, and regulatory requirements to ensure the highest level of care.

Requirements:
• Current state of Alaska registered professional nurse license.
• Current nursing skills as shown through attendance in continuing education classes; current first aid skills and current basic life support certification.
• Knowledge of community health and medical resources, Bloodborne pathogen procedures, and standard precautions.
• Ability to relate and communicate with others, with emphasis on handling exceptional students.
• Must be able to travel to various schools and offices within the Fairbanks North Star Borough. While driving on District business, must hold a valid driver's license, current vehicle insurance and registration.
