Laboratory Operations Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procure and maintain laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Set up, take down, and organize equipment and materials for weekly instructional labs.
  • Train, instruct, and supervise student lab assistants and support personnel in the safe use of facilities and operation of all laboratory equipment.
  • Provide instructional and technical support for laboratory personnel and teaching assistants.
  • Interface with Environmental Health and Safety, Custodial Services, Biology Instructional Office staff, vendors, and contractors.
  • Maintain and clean lab equipment and lab areas.
  • Assist course instructors in improving existing laboratory exercises, troubleshooting current protocols based on graduate teaching assistant feedback, and updating procedural guidelines for those exercises.
