Job Summary:

The Maintenance Manager will oversee the implementation of Del Monte's maintenance program, ensuring compliance with codes and regulations. This role will manage maintenance staff, expedite equipment repairs, and work with vendors to implement proper inventory control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Maintenance department within the monthly budget.
  • Monitor and implement facility equipment maintenance and safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Expedite and repair equipment on the production floor safely, adhering to HACCP guidelines and procedures.
  • Work with vendors to implement proper inventory control of equipment parts.
  • Identify parts replenishment resources and search for alternative sources when costs become excessive.
  • Implement layout and installation of new equipment.
  • Maintain shop and equipment records, including preventative maintenance programs and work orders.
  • Advise the General Manager on equipment maintenance and its impact on equipment availability.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate maintenance activities and resources within the facility.
  • Monitor annual reviews and inventories by equipment, department, and advise the General Manager of required changes.
  • Monitor departmental support and test equipment allowances to verify proper maintenance and calibration.
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct detailed maintenance and inspections of all commodity areas.
  • Update and maintain maintenance records.
  • Assist in facilities audits by identifying maintenance requirements.
  • Establish maintenance production programs and Product Quality Deficiency Reports.
  • Coordinate with department managers to verify maintenance reconciliations every two weeks.
  • Monitor calibration control programs to establish positive control and coordinate annual inventories of Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment.
  • Execute jobs assigned by the General Manager and Engineering in a timely manner and review issues to avoid delays.
  • Communicate equipment needs and necessary repairs with the production team to adjust production schedules.
  • Perform routine repairs and maintenance work, predictive and preventive inspections on all facility equipment and grounds.
  • Perform minor repairs, including general plumbing, welding, HVAC, general construction, fabrication, and electrical work.
  • Maintain a daily log of all work performed, including repairs on equipment, parts used, and other inventory control matters.
  • Assist in special projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • At least 5 years of prior experience in Maintenance/Facility and Preventative Maintenance Program management.
  • Experience in Industrial/Manufacturing maintenance.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of electrical, plumbing, general maintenance troubleshooting, and repair skills.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and work from ladders up to 10 feet.
  • Must own a set of standard hand tools.
  • Good organization and analytical skills.
  • Experience with PC spreadsheet and database applications.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Innovation: ability to use creativity and judgment to resolve problems.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
  • Preferred:
  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification for refrigeration duties.
  • Bilingual in Spanish would also be a plus.
  • Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning/refrigeration (HVAC) experience.
