About the Role

Caterpillar is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Project Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for driving design for manufacturing collaboration with engineering and our manufacturing base.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project management to drive timely completion of development activities
  • Ensuring robust process controls are in place to prevent nonconformities
  • Monitoring of key manufacturing processes and quality management system for improvement opportunities
  • Assisting with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities to ensure production readiness for New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • Driving APQP excellence within the GET manufacturing base through best practices, tools/templates, and direction collaboration and training
  • Providing product and process technical support during start-up activities
  • Evaluating new manufacturers and process enhancements or expansions; validating process capability
  • Leading investigation and resolution of product quality issues; conducting the review, approval and validation of 8D permanent corrective action plans
Requirements
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems
  • Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics
  • Manufacturing Best Practices & Standards: Knowledge of best practices and standards for improving the effectiveness, efficiency, and safety of the design, production, and distribution of manufacturing products
  • Change Control: Knowledge of the processes and procedures by which a change is identified, evaluated, approved, monitored and documented
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering (Metallurgical/Materials, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical)
  • Knowledge and experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) processes and tools
  • Knowledge/understanding of Caterpillar print reading, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Foundry process knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge of shop operations, particularly Machining, Finishing, Inspection, Paint, Packaging
