Software Engineer

The Software Developer plays a vital role in creating, refining, and sustaining software solutions, primarily specializing in Django/Python frameworks. A strong grasp of Python or similar languages is essential, along with proficiency in Azure Cloud services and modern JavaScript frameworks like JavaScript/jQuery. This role requires adept use of version control systems such as GitHub and emphasizes effective project management, placing a high priority on detailed documentation practices. Familiarity in CI/CD methodologies, healthcare data storage best practices, and handling extensive datasets is preferred. The position values proactive approaches that drive innovation and efficiency, including adherence to coding best practices, a self-motivated work ethic, excellent communication skills essential for seamless collaboration across diverse teams, and a culture that encourages embracing uncertainty by welcoming questions and acknowledging when further information is needed.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain robust, scalable applications primarily using Django/Python. Enhance frontend functionalities by integrating modern JavaScript/jQuery or similar frameworks, with HTML and CSS integrated within the Django environment to create user-centric visuals.
Implement best practices and coding standards for efficient software development.
Collaborate with team members to design and architect software solutions that meet project requirements.
Identify and resolve software issues through debugging and testing procedures across Django/Python, JavaScript frameworks, Azure Cloud Services, and MS SQL Server.
Utilize GitHub to manage codebase and facilitate collaborative development.
Maintain documentation for code, procedures, and software functionalities.
Innovate and propose improvements to optimize software development processes and methodologies.
Work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals.
Effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Adhere to software development methodologies, project timelines, and milestones.
Establish and enforce policies outlining standards and procedures for team members.
Stay updated on industry best practices, recommending improvements as necessary.
Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related degree preferred or minimum 5 years of experience working in software development. (Preferably with Python and/or JavaScript frameworks. Proven track record of developing and maintaining scalable applications. Demonstrated experience working independently, efficiently managing tasks, and delivering solutions autonomously. Strong problem-solving skills for addressing software-related issues. Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams with excellent communication skills. Experience working with Information Technology preferred. Automation and scripting experienced preferred. Cloud computing experience preferred. Correctional healthcare experience preferred.
