Director, Employer Relations and Outreach

The George Washington University Law School seeks a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Director of Employer Relations and Outreach. This key role will be responsible for fostering strong relationships with employers, promoting career opportunities for law students and alumni, and developing innovative strategies to enhance the school's reputation and visibility in the legal community.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive employer outreach and engagement strategy to attract top employers and create meaningful career opportunities for law students and alumni.
  2. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including law firms, government agencies, and public-interest organizations, to promote the school's programs and services.
  3. Design and deliver effective recruitment and outreach programs, including job fairs, career panels, and networking events, to connect students and alumni with employers.
  4. Collaborate with the admissions office to communicate with incoming transfer students about access to recruiting programs.
  5. Develop and implement a data-driven system to evaluate and measure the effectiveness of recruitment and employer engagement efforts and programming.
  6. Provide regular reporting to the Associate Dean on outcomes of employer outreach efforts and recruiting programs.
  7. Represent the Career Center at national, regional, and local meetings of appropriate professional organizations and associations.

Requirements:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 8 years of relevant professional experience, or a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 6 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. JD from an ABA-accredited law school is preferred.
  2. Advanced knowledge and understanding of employment outreach services for law students, including recruiting initiatives for the private sector, government, and Public-Interest organizations is desired.
  3. Knowledge and understanding of career practices and opportunities within the local, regional, national, and global legal communities, including in law firms, the public sector, and public-interest organizations preferred.
  4. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to develop and deliver presentations.
  6. Managerial experience, including formal supervision of staff, monitoring production and overall work quality of direct reports, and fostering collaboration among highly skilled team members is desired.
  7. Strong technology and data skills including spreadsheets and data reporting, or a basic familiarity and a willingness and commitment to acquire skills needed to be effective in the role preferred.
