Job Summary:

As an Equipment Mechanic at the State of Texas, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing malfunctions of vehicle computer components, as well as repairing air conditioners, electrical systems, front-ends, fuel systems, drive-trains, brake systems, and other vehicle components. Additionally, you will prepare new vehicles and equipment to be placed into service and perform road tests on vehicles and equipment to ensure safe operation.

Key Responsibilities:

Diagnose and repair malfunctions of vehicle computer components
Repair air conditioners, electrical systems, front-ends, fuel systems, drive-trains, brake systems, and other vehicle components
Prepare new vehicles and equipment to be placed into service
Perform road tests on vehicles and equipment for safe operation

Requirements:

Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and tools

Work Environment:

Work is performed in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent deadlines and changing priorities
May be required to work in a variety of weather conditions
May be required to work at heights or in confined spaces

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required
2+ years of experience in a related field preferred
Valid driver's license required
