Electromagnetic Environmental Effects Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Electromagnetic Environmental Effects Engineer to join our team in the Aircraft Carrier Design and Systems Engineering Directorate (SEA 05V) at Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA).

This position will be based at the Washington Navy Yard and will involve working closely with the Nimitz (CVN68) and Ford (CVN78) Class Aircraft Carrier Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and Warfare System Engineering Manager.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in electromagnetic environmental effects and experience working with US Navy vessels, preferably nuclear powered ships.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical support and assessing risk for technical decisions for Nimitz (CVN 68) and Ford (CVN 78) Class Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and System Engineering Manager (SEM)
  • Providing engineering assessment, research, and problem resolution utilizing Nimitz (CVN 68) and/or Ford (CVN 78) operational experience
  • Participating and coordinating technical approval letters for Ship Alteration (ShipAlts) and Technical Assessment Team (TAT) reviews for Ship Change Documents (SCDs)
  • Coordinating with Engineering Agents, Technical Authorities, TYCOM, PMS 312, PMS 378, SUPSHIP Newport News, Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY), Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNS), Ship Repair Facility (SRF), & other activities to resolve technical matters
  • Reviewing technical data packages, drawings, reports, logistics products, training, etc. and developing formal presentations to brief to senior officials
