Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Aerospace Design Engineer to join our team as a Senior Aerospace Tool Designer- Checker. Key Responsibilities
  • Create tooling solutions and detailed tool design drawings using CATIA software for Military, Aerospace, and Commercial markets.
  • Check designs for accuracy and compliance with company/industry standards.
  • Review the Statement of Work and verify information needed to complete design, communicating any missing information with the Design Manager and Project Manager.
  • Design to customer-specific intervals and standards, informing the Design Manager when reaching specified intervals for internal checks.
  • Notify the Project Manager once the internal check has been completed.
  • Attend scheduled internal design review meetings, reviewing the Statement of Work and tool model with manufacturing and quality teams.
  • Participate in tooling design reviews to ensure tools support customer build plans, are usable by production, and meet established technical/safety/ergo requirements.
  • Interact with internal processing, manufacturing, and quality teams for seamless production flow.
  • Promote technical troubleshooting of tooling-related issues, cause, and corrective action analysis.
  • Cross-check some design work in a team-based environment.
  • Knowledgeable in functionality of various tools and tooling materials.
  • Familiar with customer design standards, including accessing CAD-supplied design standards as needed.
  • Comply with electronic document and manual document control systems.
  • Understand and work according to QMS procedures and work instructions.
  • Work efficiently, delivering design within or before required due dates and budgeted hours.
  • Maintain quality and production goals.
  • Adhere to OSHA safety guidelines and ITAR compliance.
Requirements
  • Team player.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • 2-D drawings experience.
  • 3-D modeling experience (CATIA V5) of assembly fixtures, machine fixtures, bond & lay-up tools, and facility equipment.
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge in geometric tolerances.
  • Understanding reference systems.
Experience
  • Superior computer skills.
  • Minimum 6+ years of experience with tool and/or mechanical design.
  • 4 or more years of experience with CATIA V5 software.
  • Aerospace tool design experience.
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechatronics, Hardware, Software, or Mechanical) or equivalent.
