Job Title: Hotel Controller

Study Hotels is seeking a skilled Hotel Controller to oversee the day-to-day accounting functions of our hotel. This role is responsible for managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, general cashiering, income auditing, and general ledger functions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, with experience in managing hotel operations. They will be responsible for implementing procedures and systems as directed by the corporate office, enforcing policies and brand standards, and ensuring accurate and timely payment for all vendors.

The Hotel Controller will work closely with the General Manager and department leads to proactively assist with purchase orders, cost control, revenue enhancement possibilities, and monthly reporting requirements. They will also be responsible for coordinating with the Information Technology team to ensure effective systems are in place to streamline processes and reduce costs.

Fundamentals:

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years in a similar role within the hospitality industry, with a proven advancement record and currently employed in a management position.
  • Skilled in the use of advanced, moderately complex, Property Management, Point of Sale, Accounting, and Time & Attendance Systems.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of Accounting practices and procedures including the Uniform Systems of Accounts for the Hotel Industry.
  • Proficient with US, State, and Local tax regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills including follow up, time management, ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to positively communicate and interact with all hotel departments, external vendors, and guests.
