Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Traffic Management Director to lead our team in overseeing traffic management operations, including coordinating temporary and special events traffic control, traffic sign fabrication, installation, and maintenance, traffic signal installation and maintenance, pavement markings, damage prevention, and various permit processes.

The successful candidate will have a strong leadership background in traffic engineering, with experience in managing personnel, overseeing traffic studies, zoning coordination, community mobility studies, pedestrian safety programs, design and construction management of signal and other transportation projects.

A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required, along with a Professional Engineer license in the State of Ohio. Five years of responsible administrative/management experience in the Traffic/Transportation Engineering field implementing projects and supervising employees is also necessary.

This role requires excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to engage with the community, establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, government officials, business owners, and the general public.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage personnel, including hiring, training, and evaluating staff.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and regulations for traffic management operations.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure effective traffic management practices.
  • Represent the City of Toledo in matters related to traffic management and transportation.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, including financial data, project progress, and personnel information.

The City of Toledo offers a competitive salary range of $110,000 - $140,000 per year, depending on experience, along with excellent health and retirement benefits, including health insurance, group life insurance, the Ohio Public Employees Retirement Plan (OPERS), a deferred compensation plan, and a 401(k) plan.

Requirements:

A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, a Professional Engineer license in the State of Ohio, five years of responsible administrative/management experience in the Traffic/Transportation Engineering field, and strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for this role.
