Job Description

We are seeking an IP Law Intern to join our team at DEKA Research & Development, a dynamic R&D environment that creates innovative solutions. The ideal candidate will be part of a community that makes a difference.

The internship is open to full-time students aged 18 and above, with a minimum duration of 10 weeks (12 weeks preferred). All summer internships must start by June 18, 2025.

The role involves reviewing and organizing electronic patent files, creating structures to correlate patent families, working with databases to structure IDS filings, preparing documents for filing at the USPTO, completing electronic filings at the USPTO, tracking and organizing incoming correspondence from foreign associates, and performing legal secretarial and administrative tasks as needed.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Completion of at least two years in an accredited Juris Doctorate program or equivalent prior to starting the internship;
  • Patent Bar eligibility;
  • Personal or professional experience with structuring and organizing information;
  • Computer skills with word processing and data entry; and
  • Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, ability to work independently, and strong interpersonal skills.

We estimate the salary for this position to be around $25,000-$35,000 per year, based on industry standards and location.
