Oswald Companies is seeking a motivated and goal-driven professional to join our team as a Sales Development Representative. As a key member of our Business Development Team, you will be responsible for generating sales opportunities with new clients, collaborating with internal staff to cross-sell products and services, and developing a personal sales plan to achieve annual production goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish a sales development plan to originate business with new clients and build a book of business that grows incrementally each year.
  • Capture opportunities to cross-sell multiple lines of coverage to existing clients and collaborate with department peers and service staff to maximize sales of services provided.
  • Maintain a high level of sales activity through self-driven initiatives to achieve production goals and market products and services to the appropriate contact.
  • Develop and execute a proactive strategy to source leads, identify and target decision-makers, and make cold calls to obtain opportunities for an appointment and service presentation.
  • Perform a detailed analysis of a prospective client's needs by reviewing their existing insurance / risk management program and make recommendations for appropriate and competitive coverages.
  • Customize insurance programs to suit customer needs covering a variety of risks and explain features, advantages, and disadvantages of various policies to promote the sale of services.
  • Communicate products and services by developing the appropriate presentation and implementing closing techniques to secure the business.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic records of all prospecting activities using Microsoft CRM software, including data entry of established contacts, sales calls, and presentations performed, closed sales achieved, and other follow-up activities.
  • Develop a personal network of contacts for the long-term sourcing of prospects through professional referrals and special-interest groups and participate in community events, non-for-profit boards, and other community networking opportunities.
  • Attend industry events, seminars, and informational workshops to learn about changes in the competitive market and new products and services provided and receive technical training and enhance skills to improve account development ability.
  • Stay up-to-date with legislative changes, industry trends, and new product offerings and assist in the implementation of company promotional activities and seminars.
  • Attend and participate in all mandatory Business Development Team meetings.

Education and Previous Experience:

A bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Risk Management from a four-year college or university and one to three years or more related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience specifically required includes successful selling experience in a Business-2-Business product or service.
