Payroll Clerk

The Payroll Clerk is a vital member of the Payroll team at Bethel Church, responsible for managing employee compensation and payroll processes. Key tasks include collecting and entering payroll information, assisting with the biweekly payroll run, and addressing employee inquiries. As a member of our team, you will be part of an organization that seeks to expand God's Kingdom through His manifest presence.

This is a non-exempt, part-time position (40 hours biweekly) with a salary range of $18.00 to $20.00 per hour. Responsibilities include:

• Processing payroll-related requests in the HRM system, including new hires, bonus requests, and pay rate changes
• Collecting, organizing, and verifying biweekly timesheet information for employees
• Assisting with biweekly payroll processing, ensuring compliance with multi-state and federal regulations
• Managing and processing payroll garnishments
• Assisting with employment terminations and preparing final paychecks in accordance with California state requirements
• Collaborating with leaders and employees to resolve payroll-related questions

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; an associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred
• 1-2 years of experience with a payroll system and payroll processing is preferred
• Understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices is a plus
• Proficient math skills and basic understanding of accounting principles and/or payroll processes
• Attention to detail, excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication and customer service skills
• Able to work collaboratively and effectively under regular deadlines
• Able to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks with minimal supervision
