Job Title: Client Benefits Specialist

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Client Benefits Specialist to join our team in Louisville, Kentucky. As a key member of our Economic Empowerment team, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive services and support to refugees and other eligible clients in accessing public benefits.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide accurate and timely information to clients regarding their eligibility for public benefits, including Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA) and other programs.
  • Conduct eligibility determinations, review benefit applications, and prepare enrollment documents to ensure clients understand their rights and responsibilities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of client interactions and services provided, ensuring compliance with IRC and government regulations.
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders, including the Kentucky Office for Refugees (KOR) and the Department for Community Based Services (DCBS), to develop and implement policies and procedures that support the delivery of public benefits.
  • Provide training and capacity-building sessions to refugees and other eligible clients to help them prepare and submit applications for public benefits.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field of study is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of public assistance programs in Kentucky is preferred.
  • Lived experience as a refugee or immigrant is welcome, and experience working with refugees and/or immigrants is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working with resettlement and refugee organizations is preferred.
  • English proficiency, both spoken and written, is required.
  • Ability to document interactions and services provided and maintain updated and accurate documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and comfort learning and working with other technical systems.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to focus and work productively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation are required.
