Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Interventional Radiology Technologist to join our team at UnityPoint Health. As an Interventional Radiology Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our Interventional Radiology department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of technical procedures on patients of all ages, requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis.
  • Assume responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required, working collaboratively with the Registered Nurse team and under the direction of Physicians.
  • Contribute professional IR and CT IR knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients undergoing invasive IR procedures.
  • Perform quality diagnostic procedures, general as well as surgical, portable, and tomography, and be proficient in CT.
  • Provide and use radiation protection devices and techniques in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
  • Correctly document required information, ensuring records are complete, accurate, and up to date, with no filing errors.
  • Assist radiologists and/or physicians in specific procedures, patient care, and other duties as required.
  • Apply knowledge of safe operation and use of x-ray and other required equipment, reporting malfunctions immediately.
  • Direct patient flow, ensuring patients are not delayed unnecessarily for radiology services and do not wait longer than 15 minutes without explanation of delays.
  • Instruct, guide, direct, assist, supervise, and evaluate students in specific clinical and didactic aspects of their education in a caring manner.
  • Deliver high-quality care while demonstrating knowledge and clinical skills of the specialty required in the IR Lab in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards of care under the direct supervision of the physician.
  • Maintain proficiency in the manual skills and techniques required to prepare and maintain sterile fields and to maintain a clean procedure environment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of radiation safety and practice, including the use of advanced imaging systems used in the IR Lab setting.
Requirements
  • Holds Permit-to-Practice radiology in the state of Iowa.
  • Certified and holds current registration with the A.R.R.T. as a Radiologic Technologist and in CT.
  • Ability to assist IR Radiologist with interventional procedures.
  • Knowledge to proper post-processing technique to achieve high-optimize images.
  • Ability to assist Interventional Radiologist with vascular and Neuro-Endovascular procedures.
  • Demonstrates critical care skills to patients with higher acuity (ED, ICU, or OR).
  • Advanced technical skills required to operate high-risk interventional equipment specifically for Neuro-Endovascular procedures.
