Building Scalable Simulation Infrastructure for Autonomous Driving

At Waymo, we are revolutionizing the way people and things move around. As a Technical Lead Manager on our Simulation Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for creating reliable, scalable, and cost-effective simulation-based products that evaluate the Waymo Driver's software stack at a massive scale.
We are seeking a highly experienced Engineering Leader who is passionate about building the next generation of Simulation products and services. If you have hands-on experience building large-scale distributed systems, proficient in C++, and a proven track record of managing high-performing Software Engineers, we'd love to hear from you.
The primary responsibilities of this role include leading an Infrastructure team that serves the Simulation-based Evaluation needs for a large and diverse set of customer teams across Waymo, setting the technical vision and direction for your team, and influencing the direction of the broader Infrastructure Organization.
In addition, you will contribute production-grade code, execute code reviews, drive and influence detailed technical designs, and align and define plans for your team, as well as influence planning and strategy of partners and the larger Organization.
To be successful in this role, you should have a minimum of 2+ years directly managing high-performing Software Engineers, demonstrated experience working cross-functionally with Product, Program, Data Science, etc., and a history of data-driven decision making.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Hands-on experience building large-scale distributed systems
- Proficient in C++ or a strong willingness to learn
- 2+ years directly managing high-performing Software Engineers
- Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally with Product, Program, Data Science, etc.
- History of data-driven decision making
- Experience working with different types of large-scale systems
- History of working on Infra teams with multiple different customers
- Experience with evaluation tools, data analysis, and data science concepts
- 10+ years of industry experience as a Software Engineer/Technical Expert
Estimated Salary Range: $221,000-$276,000 USD per year
