Occupational Therapist Assistant

UPMC is seeking a skilled Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to support patient services at Williamsport Hospital. This role will work from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with one weekend per month required.
The COTA will provide treatment under the direction of an occupational therapist as prescribed by the referring physician and supervising occupational therapist. Responsibilities include:
- Attending and actively participating in staff meetings, staff development, departmental committees, and in-service education programs.
- Competently assisting occupational therapists in the survey of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients within the scope of practice permitted by the Occupational Therapy Practice Acts of practicing state.
- Maintaining written/electronic documentation that meets or exceeds the standard established for the facility by the organization for all clinical services rendered.
- Ensuring documentation is cosigned per the facility-specific guidelines and the Occupational Therapy Practice Acts of practicing state.
- Demonstrating clinical ability to implement the treatment program within the plan of care outlined by the occupational therapist.
- Rotating through selected treatment areas and/or facilities when necessary to facilitate organizational needs.
- Consistently utilizing and providing appropriate supervision to clinical support staff following Occupational Therapy Practice Acts of practicing state.
- Completing necessary charge/statistical information to accurately reflect services documented and rendered to patients.
- Scheduling to achieve and maintain a level of productivity that meets or exceeds the standard established for the facility by the organization.
Requirements include:
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) with an associate's degree as an occupational therapy assistant.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in the practicing state.
- National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) Certification.
- CPR is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
- National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- Act 33 with renewal.
- Act 34 with renewal.
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
