Intensive Care Unit Nurse Assistant

Job DescriptionA Student Nurse Intern II works under the supervision of a registered nurse to provide technical, multi-skilled direct and indirect patient care activities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for collaborating with care team members to ensure consistency and quality of care, assessing the holistic needs of patients, and reporting changes in patient medical and/or emotional condition to the registered nurse.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in performing designated respiratory procedures, maintenance locomotion, maintenance functional activities, dressing changes, and other basic patient care activities.
You will also assist the registered nurse by observing and reporting on patient conditions, recording/charting patient information, and interacting with patient and family members.
Responsibilities- Assess the holistic needs of patients through available resources.
- Perform a variety of basic patient care activities under the direction of a registered nurse, including designated respiratory procedures, maintenance locomotion, maintenance functional activities, dressing changes, ECGs, enteral tubes, suctioning, blood glucose monitoring, postmortem care, phlebotomy, initiation of peripheral IV lines, and urinary catheterization.
- Collaborate with care team members to ensure consistency and quality of care.
- Report changes in patient medical and/or emotional condition to the registered nurse.
- Document interventions and patient responses according to policy.
- Follow all departmental policies, procedures, and objectives; continuous improvement initiatives; safety environmental and infection control standards.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Currently enrolled, and in good standing, in an accredited school of nursing; completed two clinical rotations in medical/surgical nursing.
- Specific requirements of course work will vary with area of assignment.
The estimated salary range for this position is $25-$35 per hour. Please note that salaries may vary based on location, experience, and other factors.
