Part-Time Lecturer Pool for Human Communication Studies Faculty

California State University, Fullerton invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer Pool in the Department of Human Communication Studies. As a lecturer, you will be responsible for teaching various courses in human communication studies, including public speaking, introduction to communication studies, and quantitative research methods. This is a part-time position, with appointments made as needed for the fall and spring semesters.

About the Department:
The Department of Human Communication Studies provides students with an understanding of communication processes in a culturally diverse society. Our degree programs give students a strong foundation of theory, and each program gives them experience applying theory in various contexts. Knowledge and skills are developed in the classroom through case study methodology and other learning strategies, as well as internship experiences that allow students to apply their knowledge and skills in their eventual work settings.
Responsibilities:
As a part-time lecturer, your responsibilities will include:
- Teaching various courses in human communication studies
- Developing and implementing course syllabi and lesson plans
- Evaluating student performance and providing feedback
Requirements:
To be considered for this position, you must have a Master's degree in Communication Studies or a related field, or equivalent experience. You should also have prior teaching experience at the university level and demonstrate your ability to interact and work effectively with a wide range of students. Coursework or prior teaching experience in the particular course topic is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to those with significant teaching experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive environment. A record of professional writing and currency is also preferred.
Compensation:
Part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association. Initial appointments are for one semester only. The estimated salary for this position ranges from $5,436 to $6,486 per semester, depending on qualifications and unit load. Benefits include paid vacation time, sick leave, and medical benefits. Performance evaluations determine which lecturers will be retained for future and continued teaching assignments.
