Dental Hygienist Job Description

The Dental Hygienist plays a crucial role in maintaining the oral health of our patients. This position requires a skilled professional who can conduct thorough examinations, perform dental cleanings, and provide education on proper oral hygiene practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Tooth Polishing and Scaling: The Dental Hygienist will be responsible for removing stains, plaque, and calculus from tooth surfaces using various techniques, including polishing and scaling.
  • General Oral Health Education: Our team member will provide patients with guidance on how to maintain good oral health, including proper brushing, flossing, and dental cleaning habits.
  • Dental Radiographs: The Dental Hygienist will expose and process dental radiographs using bite wings, periapical films, and related equipment, alerting the dentist to any findings.
  • Disease Identification: This role involves identifying potential diseases and signs of tooth decay, ensuring prompt treatment and prevention of further complications.
  • Assistant to Dentist: The Dental Hygienist will assist the dentist during restorative, surgical, and endodontic procedures, providing support and expertise as needed.
  • Treatment Charts and Records: Our team member will create and maintain accurate dental treatment charts and records, managing appointment scheduling effectively.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Education: A degree from an accredited Dental Hygiene school is required.
  • Licensure: The successful candidate must hold a Michigan Dental Hygienist license.
  • Certification: Anesthesia Certification is also necessary.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong patient assessment and management skills, ability to work with diverse patient populations, and certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) are essential.

We offer a competitive salary of $65,000 - $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
