Diesel Fleet Mechanic

A heavy-duty repair specialist is sought to join the US Foods, Inc. team in a diesel fleet mechanic role. The position involves troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel equipment such as tractors and reefer trailers. A minimum of three years of hands-on experience in heavy-duty mechanics is required, with a strong emphasis on safety culture.
Schedule:
Sunday - Thursday Nights
4:00 PM - 12:00 AM
Main Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace, and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (i.e., tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, lift gates, etc.).
- Perform preventative maintenance within company standards.
- Complete documentation of all repair orders, PM list, and parts accountability.
- Handle road service calls; perform road rescue/transport equipment as needed.
- Keep track of assigned repairs by logging in and out of the Shop Fax system.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules and regulations and government guidelines.
- Maintain inventory and proper recordkeeping.
- Backup to other maintenance shop personnel.
- Willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and certifications.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- A minimum of three years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic or reefer mechanic or a combination of both.
- Demonstrated diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to equipment repairs.
- Prior experience in administering an appropriate PM program.
- The ability to read and communicate in the English language such as to attend trainings, hold conversations, receive safety and job-related coaching, read and understand technical and service manuals.
- Able to communicate with co-workers and drivers with demonstrated teamwork skills.
- The ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- The ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.
Compensation:
$28-$33 per hour, depending on experience, with opportunities for overtime pay.
