As a key member of our team at Bosch Group Inc, you will conduct cutting-edge research in reliable distributed systems, focusing on AI-driven approaches to empower cloud and edge computing solutions for autonomous driving, industrial automation, and robotics.

You will collaborate with a global team to translate innovative research findings into operational practices within our organization. Additionally, you will work closely with renowned institutions, such as UC Berkeley, to advance scalable and distributed autonomous systems research.

To achieve this, you will implement research outcomes to address real-world challenges, ensuring high-quality system integration within our existing platforms. Staying abreast of the latest technological advancements and market trends is crucial, so attending academic conferences, technical events, and seminars will be essential.

You will provide expert insights to our management team regarding relevant technology sectors, aiding in strategic planning, R&D trajectory, and investment decisions. Furthermore, you will document and disseminate research results through top-tier publications and/or patent submissions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field or master's degree with 2+ years industry experience after graduation.
  • A minimum of 3 years of R&D experience, or an equivalent graduate research background, primarily in AI-motivated distributed system technologies and architectures, including cloud computing, parallel computing, operating systems, middleware frameworks, real-time systems, or network protocols.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages commonly used in systems research (e.g., Rust, C++, Python).
  • In-depth experience with autonomous system architectures, e.g., for autonomous driving or robotics.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one automotive/robotic/general-purpose middleware framework (e.g., AUTOSAR, ROS2, Zenoh, DDS).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with real-world product development and deployment of autonomous systems.
  • A strong portfolio of publications in premier computer systems, machine learning, deep learning, robotics, computer vision journals and conferences.
  • Familiarity with AI inferencing and training, knowledge of major machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Experience in reliable and safe distributed function design.
  • Experience developing and analyzing real-time and/or safety-critical systems.
  • Experience with automotive safety (e.g., ISO 26262) and communication standards (e.g., V2X) and past participation in standardization efforts is a plus.
  • Experience with automotive architecture design is a plus.
  • Experience with object detection, tracking, and mapping approaches for robotic or automotive applications is a plus.
  • Strong background in math and statistics is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork capabilities.
