Insurance Underwriter

The Underwriter, Retail Property role is an exciting opportunity for experienced professionals to take their career to the next level. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for evaluating and selecting submissions to be underwritten, identifying risk exposures, and analyzing claims and quantifying losses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwrite specific lines of business within Retail Property
- Evaluate and prioritize submissions to be underwritten
- Identify risk exposures and special or common hazards
- Analyze claims and quantify losses
- Adhere to underwriting discipline to minimize exposure and price risks appropriately
- Ensure underwriting files and services standards are met
- Offer coverage, terms, and conditions that generate a profit for the company while meeting customer needs
- Capture market intelligence and broker feedback on accounts
- Demonstrate technical expertise with product(s) in the Financial Lines portfolio
- Develop strong business acumen, financial, and analytical skills
- Negotiate and build collaborative relationships
- Multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
Requirements:
- 1+ years of relevant professional experience in commercial insurance
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
- Demonstrated sales, marketing, and relationship-building experience
- Working knowledge of Retail Property products preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment
- Comfort with financial statements, analytical tools, and technology
