Job Overview

Assistant Controller with Real Estate Experience

We are seeking an experienced accounting professional to join our team in Boston, MA. This role offers a competitive salary range of $150k with a 25% bonus structure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee assigned property and/or debt investment accounting staff.
  • Manage the monthly closing and consolidation process.
  • Analyze budget to actual results and discuss with senior executives.
  • Prepare and review quarterly financial statements and investor reports.
  • Ensure compliance with Fund/Account partnership agreements and investor side letters.
  • Manage investment management fee and incentive fee calculations.
  • Prepare joint venture waterfall calculations.
  • Manage preparation of capital accounts and returns calculations.
  • Calculate distributions and manage debt covenant compliance.
  • Oversee external audit process and manage third-party relationships.
  • Develop and manage performance reporting accounting staff.
  • Adhere to internal controls surrounding financial reporting and compliance.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience (7 preferred) in real estate or private equity industry.
  • Experience with financial statements preparation required.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration required, accounting concentration preferred.
  • CPA license and public accounting experience preferred.
