Nursing Professional for Behavioral Health

Salary: $95,000 - $115,000 per yearWe offer competitive salaries based on qualifications and experience. This salary range is an estimate and may vary based on individual circumstances.
As a Staff Nurse in the Behavioral Health Department at Harlem Hospital Center, you will have the opportunity to work with patients who require specialized care. Your skills and competence in Nursing will enable you to provide high-quality care within the scope of regulatory agency standards and policies and procedures as set forward by HHC and Harlem Hospital.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform nursing skills and interventions efficiently, safely, consistently, and cost-effectively.
- Identify and treat responses to actual or potential health problems using nursing methods and techniques such as case findings, health teaching, health counseling, and provision of care supportive to restorative life and well-being.
- Observe symptoms or changes in patient behavior, identify, and manage crisis situations promptly, initiating appropriate interventions.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and knowledge of the impact of gender, race, ethnicity, asexual orientation, income, etc., on treatment goals and strategies of behavior change.
- Demonstrate respect for personal values and belief systems of individuals served.
- Demonstrate knowledge of standards of ethical behavior.
- Initiate and complete initial and ongoing assessment of patients according to established guidelines.
- Assist with triage process of patients received from the Medical Emergency Room.
- Assist in the search process and securing patients' property.
- A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
- Holds or obtains through facility orientation a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
For assignments in Post-Acute Care ONLY, individuals meeting specific criteria may also be considered for appointment. Please refer to the job description for additional information.
