About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Civil Superintendent to join our team at McCarthy Building. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for overseeing the construction of civil projects in the field, providing leadership to field foremen, and ensuring the successful completion of trade work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety and Risk Management: Assist in the implementation of project-specific safety and accident prevention programs, and maintain safe work areas through regular job-site inspections.
  • Leadership and Coordination: Lead McCarthy's Task Hazard Analysis (THA) process, implement all safety and EEO/Affirmative Action programs, and schedule and manage multiple crews performing various tasks across the project site.
  • Project Logistics: Develop a project site logistics plan, comprehend contract drawings/specifications, and communicate with owners, inspectors, and other trades.
  • Resource Allocation: Allocate resources, plan activities, review work, and manage consumables/equipment, including compiling a comprehensive bill of materials and coordinating deliveries.
  • Performance Management: Manage McCarthy's field personnel to achieve optimum performance, review and understand material budgets, and review and understand equipment budgets.
  • Quality and Safety: Provide leadership in quality process, provide leadership in the safety and accident prevention programs, and document daily construction activities.
  • Communication and Coordination: Chair weekly subcontractor coordination meetings, issue and maintain short-term schedules, and assist Project Engineers in review of Shop Drawing and Submittals.
  • Preconstruction and Estimating: Assist Estimating in bidding opportunities and Preconstruction services, assist in development of detailed CPM Schedule, and assist in development of Detailed Scope of Work.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of applicable field leadership experience in underground utility installation.
  • Experience with self-perform large-scale civil and underground utility projects.
  • Experience with HCSS/Heavy Jobs, Procore, or Bluebeam a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or other a plus.
  • Previous experience directing and coordinating multiple crews and subcontractors.
  • Knowledge of civil construction principles/practices required.
