Job Description

We are seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting environmental, health and safety related initiatives, training, continuous improvement, incident response and investigations, reporting, and worker's compensation throughout Certified Group Corporations Eastern Region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create, revise, and implement Corporate EHS Policies, Procedures, and Forms.
  • Oversight management of all EHS processes within the Eastern Region, including Canada, with direct responsibility for the Greensboro facility.
  • Maintain regular correspondence with the Corporate EHS Director.
  • Maintain EHS-related documentation.
  • Prepare for, participate in, and follow up on Corporate EHS Audits, as needed.
  • Prepare Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly Safety Review Reports, as needed.
  • Contribute to pollution reduction, recycling, and sustainability efforts.
  • Develop regional EHS communications.
  • Manage online databases and SharePoint, as needed.
  • Identify and administer programs and training to reinforce a culture of safety.
  • Maintain applicable EHS scorecards.
  • Review fleet telematics data for trends and develop action plans for improvement.
  • Ensure chemical safety and compliance, including annual waste stream analysis and waste management plan reviews.
  • Safe Driving Program – work with HR and facilities to maintain the driver's safety program, validate drivers, pull MVRs, and coordinate Drivers Safety training.
  • Workers Compensation assistance, including completion of incident investigation reports, database entry, and case management.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) program, including review and evaluation of all PPE programs/requirements/usage/etc.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and ensure Emergency Drills are being conducted, including semi-annual Fire Drills, annual Power Outage Drill, annual Severe Weather Drill, and Active Shooter drills.
  • Attend various Committee meetings, including Health and Safety/Management Meetings, Safety and Facility Meetings, Executive calls, and Operations meetings.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED recognized by the Council for Education Accreditation (CEA).
  • College, technical institute diploma, or University Degree (preferred).
  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate (preferred).
  • Standard First Aid Training (preferred).
  • Familiarity with the creation, administration, and maintenance of EHS Programs within a laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with the identification and control of laboratory and EHS-related hazards.
  • Experience in digital and physical recordkeeping.
  • Experience with Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Hazardous Waste Classification/Management (preferred).
  • HAZWOPER 40 Hour (preferred).
