Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Duty Truck Technician to join our team at Performance Foodservice. As a key member of our maintenance department, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing various types of vehicles and refrigeration equipment.

About the Role:
  • Estimated Salary: $22.50 per hour
  • Work Schedule: 2nd shift Mon-Fri 3:30pm-11:30pm or 3rd shift Sun-Thursday 11:30pm-7:30am available

In this role, you will work in a fast-paced environment, performing routine inspections, major repairs, and road service duties while maintaining accurate logs and records. You will also have opportunities for growth within the company, supporting America's food distribution system.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Review work schedule, perform safety check on equipment, obtain supplies required to perform the work and prepare for operations
  2. Assist in performing regular scheduled tractor inspections, complete checklists, troubleshoot and make routine repairs as required
  3. Perform major repair work to tractors and trailers, disassemble, remove, repair or replace defective parts or components of gas or diesel engines, transmissions, steering mechanisms, ignition, electrical and hydraulic systems, air conditioning, refrigeration controls and units, clutches, brakes and mechanical or electrical operating units
  4. Assist in servicing and repairing refrigeration units, repair engines, repair leaks, replace tubing, condensers, thermal controls, and recharge units with approved refrigerant gas
  5. Operate electric arc welding equipment to repair ramps, ladders and tripods, repair or construct new cargo bars
  6. Assist on road service trips, maintain required logs, records, checklists and reports, maintain garage tools, equipment and work area in a clean and orderly manner
  7. Perform other similar or related operations as assigned or directed
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience
  • 6-12 months interpret data requiring advanced skills knowledge equivalent to 6-12 months training in truck/automotive maintenance; wide variety of drawings, specifications, charts, tables, various types of meters and diagnostic equipment
