Plaquemine, Louisiana, United States Dow Full time

At Dow, we prioritize our people and are dedicated to upholding integrity, respect, and safety for our clients, employees, and the environment.

Our workforce embodies the communities we serve and reflects the diversity that strengthens us. We are a collective of determined problem solvers, providing daily opportunities to contribute your insights, revolutionize industries, and shape the future. Our mission is straightforward - to foster a sustainable future through scientific innovation and collaboration. If you seek a challenging and impactful role, you have found the right opportunity.

About You and This Role:

In this position, you will offer specialized technical expertise as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in corrosion, metallurgy, and materials science. Your main duty will involve overseeing the risk-based inspection (RBI) program at our facility. You will collaborate with the Fixed Asset Integrity team, particularly focusing on RBI sustainability, assessing damage mechanisms, analyzing corrosion rates, and selecting appropriate materials. You will engage with other site, regional, and global SMEs to enhance the overall program for the organization. Additionally, you will partner with operational units and stakeholders to resolve issues and formulate long-term mitigation strategies. Your contributions will directly enhance personal and process safety by ensuring a robust and sustainable mechanical integrity program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert for Risk Based Inspections (RBI) strategies and the RBI Software, GE APM, with an emphasis on program sustainability.
  • Provide technical insights regarding inspection and repair techniques, focusing on reliability, availability, and maintainability of systems and equipment.
  • Oversee fixed equipment and piping performance through inspection and maintenance strategies, identifying and rectifying negative trends promptly to prevent any impact on safety or production.
  • Maintain the RBI work process, ensuring it aligns with existing site protocols.
  • Assist Risk Analysts, inspectors, and Plant Assessment Teams in defining the scope of inspections, repairs, and establishing corrosion rates.
  • Conduct equipment modeling that exceeds the expectations of the Risk Analyst.
  • Mentor inspectors, new corrosion engineers, or maintenance engineers on the appropriate Risk Based Inspection (RBI) program and practices.
  • Support RBI implementations in various operations.
  • Lead the revalidation of 10-year corrosion studies.
  • Ensure that current implementations comply with any updates to Dow's mechanical integrity standards.
  • Assist in the front-end loading of Turnaround projects to ensure successful asset renewal and reliability enhancement.
  • Work towards implementing additional APM Mechanical Integrity Modules (Thickness Monitoring and Inspection Management) and integrating them with RBI.
  • Facilitate communication with TES and Operations leadership regarding all APM projects.
Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Must possess a TWIC card or be eligible to obtain one.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position.
Preferred Skills:
  • Prefer a degree in Materials/Metallurgical/Corrosion Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Prefer prior experience with risk-based inspection programs.
Additional Note:

Domestic relocation assistance may be available for this role based on eligibility.
