Job Summary

The Vanderbilt University Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join our team in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). As a critical care specialist, you will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide exceptional patient care and support the development of our patients and families.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain and document a comprehensive health history, perform and document a complete physical examination, and develop a plan of care for patients in the PICU.
  • Provide primary, acute, and complex care to patients, including managing patient care, identifying expected outcomes for diagnoses, and ordering, performing, interpreting, and collecting data using appropriate assessment techniques and diagnostic procedures.
  • Form differential diagnoses and treat acute and chronic conditions, prescribe therapeutic interventions, and utilize evidence-based practice protocols in planning and implementing care.
  • Initiate appropriate referrals and consultations, provide specialty-specific consultation services, and facilitate the patient's transition between and within healthcare settings.
Requirements
  • Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care (CPNP-AC) or Physician Assistant (PA) certification.
  • Master's degree in Nursing or a related field.
  • Less than 1 year of relevant work experience.
