About the Role

Magnet Medical is seeking a skilled travel nurse to join their team in Clinton, Maryland.

Job Summary

This role requires a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in Labor and Delivery (L&D). The successful candidate will provide exceptional care to women during labor, delivery, and the postpartum period. They will be responsible for assessing and monitoring patients' health, administering medications, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Labor and Admission Assessment:
    • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' health, including gathering health histories, vital signs, and physical examinations.
    • Evaluate uterine activity, fetal heart tones, and maternal vital signs to monitor labor progression.
  • Labor Support and Monitoring:
    • Provide emotional support and pain management throughout the labor process, utilizing comfort measures like positioning, breathing techniques, and encouragement.
    • Administer medications, including epidurals and Pitocin, as prescribed by healthcare professionals.
  • Assisting with Delivery:
    • Assist obstetricians or midwives during vaginal deliveries, providing instrumentation assistance and other necessary actions during the birth.
    • Participate in cesarean section procedures, ensuring the sterile field and assisting with the delivery process.
  • Postpartum Care:
    • Monitor the health and recovery of both mothers and newborns in the immediate postpartum period, assessing vital signs, bleeding, and uterine tone.
    • Provide education on postpartum recovery, self-care, and newborn care, including breastfeeding support and recognizing signs of illness.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Accurately document all assessments, interventions, medications, and patient progress in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Infection Control and Safety:
    • FOLLOW infection control procedures to maintain a safe and sterile environment for labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
  • Emergency and High-Risk Situations:
    • Recognize signs of complications, such as fetal distress, preeclampsia, and hemorrhage, and initiate appropriate interventions or escalate care as needed.

The estimated salary for this role is $120,000 per year, based on 12 hour shifts and 48 hours per week.
