We are seeking a skilled Dental Hygienist to provide high-quality dental care to our patients in healthcare settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to delivering quality patient care, with a focus on the safety, comfort, and dignity of our elderly patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform a full range of dental hygienist procedures, including surveillance and preventive services.
  • Document all procedures performed and care provided.
  • Refer residents/patients to the dentist for consultative opinions and continuation of care.
  • Review and complete preliminary dental examinations for new residents/patients and recall periodontal residents/patients.
  • Examine teeth and surrounding tissues for evidence of caries, periodontal disease, and record findings.
  • Inspect head and neck; examine mouth, throat, and pharynx for evidence of diseases such as oral cancer, and/or soft tissue pathosis.
  • Expose, develop, and interpret radiographs to identify tooth structure, periodontal support, and other abnormalities.
  • Refer suspected medical conditions, abnormalities, caries, and traumatic or suspicious lesions to the dentist for evaluation.
  • Develop dental hygiene treatment plans for resident/patient.
  • Perform complete oral prophylaxis and non-surgical periodontal treatment on resident/patient using ultrasonic and hand instruments.
  • Clean and polish and mark removable dental appliances worn by resident/patient.
  • Participates and/or performs in the In-Service Education Program.
  • Cooperates with the other members of the multi-disciplinary health team.
  • Maintains an ethical and professional attitude towards resident/patient's, visitors.

Qualifications:

  • Current NYS Dental Hygiene License.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of professionals and patients.
  • Computer literate and familiar with Electronic Dental/Medical Record programs.
  • A strong sense of workplace professionalism and personal ethics.
