Job Title: Academic and Career Success Advisor

Job Summary:

The Academic and Career Success Advisor will play a vital role in supporting student success at the University of Sioux Falls. This position involves implementing learning accessibility accommodations, academic coaching, first-year academic advising, and other academic success services to promote student development and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maximize students' ability to achieve their academic, spiritual, social, and professional goals through efficient delivery and management of services provided under the auspices of the Academic & Career Success Center.
  • Impact overall student satisfaction, success, and retention by providing informed and industry best practices for academic support and advising.
  • Ensure equal access to learning opportunities by implementing accommodations approved by the Director for students who have documented disabilities.
  • Administer CLEP, Math Placement, English Screening, and other placement exams as needed.
  • Assist in retention outreach initiatives for early alerts and re-enrollment.

Teaching and Career Services:

  • Teach sections of SDV100: The USF Experience, SDV200: Career Planning & Preparation, and other classes that may be developed and implemented by the ASC.
  • Coach students on job/internship search techniques, including networking, resumes, cover letters, and interviewing.

General Responsibilities:

  • Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the Academic Success Center, including confidential records related to students' academic performance.
  • Represent the Academic Success Center on committees, task forces, and at campus events as assigned.
  • Comply with all USF policies and regulations, and also with outside agencies' policies and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in higher education, counseling, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years' experience in higher education required, preferably in academic advising, academic support, and/or learning accessibility services.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills, with the ability to interact positively with students, faculty, staff, parents, and alums.
  • Demonstrated success working independently and as part of a team meeting multiple priorities, deadlines, and overall goals.
