Job Summary

The Veterans Health Administration is seeking a highly skilled Social Worker to join our team. As a Social Worker, you will play a critical role in providing mental health services to our nation's veterans. Your primary responsibility will be to provide high-quality case management, individual and group therapy, clinical treatment, crisis intervention, advocacy, and coordination of linkages to other appropriate VA or community service providers/agencies as needed by the client.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough psychosocial assessments of veterans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team, the veteran, and family members/significant others.
• Develop and implement treatment plans that address the veteran's strengths, limitations, and internal/external supports and service needs.
• Provide individual and group therapy sessions to veterans, focusing on issues such as substance abuse, psychiatric and medical disorders, and other problems.
• Collaborate with other service providers to reassess the veteran's needs and provide education on available services and referrals.
• Advocate for veterans and their families, acting as an advocate when it serves the best interest of the veteran and family members/caregiver.

Requirements

• Master's degree in social work (MSW) from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
• Licensure or certification in a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level.
• Proficient in written and spoken English.
• Ability to pass a background check.

Working Conditions

This position is located in a VA medical center and requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of patient contact. The successful candidate will be required to work Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm, with occasional evening or weekend hours as needed. Telework is not available for this position. Virtual work is also not available for this position. Recruitment incentives may be authorized. Relocation incentives may be authorized. Financial Disclosure Report is not required.
