Medical Assistant Specialist

At Lancaster General Health, we are committed to delivering high-quality patient care and services. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a part-time Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team at Elizabethtown College.
Job OverviewThis role will be working 20 hours per week, with a flexible schedule that allows you to balance your work and personal life. As a CMA, you will play a vital role in preparing patients for visits, administering medications, performing point-of-care tests, and maintaining exam rooms.
Responsibilities- Prepares patients for visits by using appropriate rooming standards tools
- Administers injections, as prescribed by providers and in accordance with practice protocols
- Provides gross observations to providers or licensed nurses for interpretation as necessary
- Prepares and administers medications as prescribed by providers in accordance with federal and state regulations
- Performs point-of-care testing, including but not limited to hearing, flu, urine, and strep tests
- Removes sutures and changes dressings on wounds as necessary
- Provides clinical advice by phone/electronic correspondence in accordance with established triage protocols and relays information to patients
- Authorizes prescription refills as directed by providers
- Assists in test tracking and monitoring overdue results
- Ensures exam rooms are adequately supplied and cleaned after each patient visit
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or general equivalent (GED)
- Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution (AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or NAHTR)
- CPR Certification required: American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support
- The ability to certify your medical assistant credentials within six months of hire
